This website is the home of the Arizona Lifespan Respite Care Network. The Lifespan Respite Care Network is an integral part of the Arizona Caregiver Coalition, and will provide Arizona with an ongoing resource dedicated to making sure that caregivers across the lifespan have access to the respite they deserve and need to continue in their all-important caregiving role. This website will also provide information on training available to caregivers and will focus on offering a variety of information on the value of respite to caregivers and how caregivers can reach out for a break when they need it!
The new Arizona Lifespan Respite Care Program is authorized and funded by a recently passed appropriation of $500,000 from the Arizona State Legislature. This legislation includes provision for a new full-time employee within the Department of Economic Security (DES) to lead and coordinate the Lifespan Respite Care Program. As the program is developed, it is anticipated that significant federal funding will become available as part of the recently passed National Lifespan Respite Care Act. Having the state funded Lifespan Respite Care Program already in place will greatly enhance Arizona's chances at the federal funding, which will be awarded competitively to states that demonstrate the greatest understanding of the importance of lifespan respite care.
